Customs AIIA recovers huge quantity of liquor, mobile phones

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs team deputed at Allama Iqbal International Airport recovered huge quantity of liqour, mobile phones and other items from passengers in various operations.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Collector Zenib Mehmood Khawaja directed customs team to enhance monitoring of passengers coming from abroad. During checking customs team recovered 80 bottles of liquor from six passengers, 35 mobile phones, cosmetics, electronic goods.

In another operation the authorities recovered 45 bottles of liqour from the luggage of passengers who were coming from Dubai.  In another, operation 35 bottles were recovered from four passengers through Etihad Airways.

A passenger was carrying with her illegal cosmetics coming to Lahore.  In yet another attempt the authorities recovered 28 mobile phones and LCDs from a passenger Iftikhar Hussain who was coming from Dubai by Emirates  624 EK flight.

The operations were conducted on the directions of Collector Airport .  The Customs authorities after recovering the illegal items let the passengers leave the airport. Sources told Customs Today that the Deputy Collector Zenib Mehmood Khawaja supervised the operations.  She was quoted as saying that strict action will be taken against all kind of illegal movement of goods and articles.
