Customs AIIAP seizes foreign currency worth Rs9.6m till Sept 28

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Preventive teams deputed at Allama Iqbal International Airport (AIIAP) seized foreign currency worth Rs9.6 million till September 28, 2019.

According to the details, a passenger namely Shehzad Malik resident of DHA, Lahore was travelling through Qatar Airways flight no: QR-621 was intercepted by Customs Inspector Irfan Iqbal Leghari who recovered US$21,921 from his possession.

Inspector Jahangir Ali detained a passenger a passenger Zaheer Abbas Khan resident of Havali Jevan Shah Sharif Abad Ahmedpur Sial Jhang and recovered Euro12,000 and US$700 from his possession. The passenger was going to depart through flight no: WS-1194 of Oman Airlines

Inspector Arif Habib Jatoi intercepted a passenger namely M. Zubair son of Mukhtar Ahmed resident of Gill Wala Sargodha who was ready to depart through Emirates Airlines flight no: EY-242 and recovered US$25,002, UAE dirham 2000, Hong Kong dollar 80, Turk Leera 50, Saudi riyal 1, Thai Bath 1,000.

Customs team seized all the foreign currency and after registering separate cases against the accused persons started investigations.

Collector Preventive Ahmad Rauf already directed customs teams deputed at the airport to adopt zero tolerance policy towards persons involved in smuggling of foreign currency.
