Customs Airport foils bid to smuggle gold from Lahore Airport

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Preventive team deputed at Allama Iqbal International Airport has foiled an attempt of smuggling gold and recovered 5 gold biscuits of 24 karat.

Sources told Customs Today that customs team intercepted two ladies passengers who were later identified as Asmat Zahoor Ahmad and Nabeela Naveed. Both ladies were ready to depart to Istanbul via Turkish Airlines. During thorough search customs team recovered four gold biscuits from their luggage. Customs team confiscated 5 gold biscuits and detained the ladies and then allowed them to travel after initial investigation. Sources told that worth of the recovered gold is more than Rs1.3 million.

It is necessary to mention here that Chief Collector Zeba Hai Azhar has directed all anti-smuggling squads to adopt zero tolerance policy towards smuggling. She directed that anyone who found involved in smuggling should be dealt as per law.
