KARACHI: Seven members of a family, who were going to perform Umrah, have been arrested during a bid to smuggle drugs worth millions of rupees.
The Customs Department has arrested two persons Mohammad Usman Ghani and his cousin Sharyar, while Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has arrested Rubina Khatoon, Sadaf, Rizwan Siddiqui, Salma, Rubina.
Head of the family, Mohammad Saleem s/o Abdul Sattar, was allegedly using his family members to smuggle narcotics. However, Mohammad Saleem was not travelling along with his family. The authorities recovered amphetamine duly packed in 13 polythene packets from the luggage of the family members.
Meanwhile, Customs is approaching court seeking warrant for the arrest of Mohammad Saleem.
