Customs Appellate Tribunal, ATIR hear important tax matters during 3rd week of May

ISLAMABAD: Customs Appellate Tribunal and Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue continued the hearing of tax matters involving field offices of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) during third week of May.

Customs Appellate Tribunal Member Ziaudding Wazir heard the cases filed by M/s Kohinoor Traders and reserved decisions. The appellant had filed references against Directorate General of Intelligence and Investigation, Islamabad.

The appellant had filed cases challenging announcements made by the DG I&I, Islamabad. All three cases were filed in 2016. Meanwhile, Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue (ATIR) cancelled hearing on a case submitted by M/s Fauji Fertilizer Company Limited following submission by counsels involved.

Taking notice of the counsel request, the bench postponed hearing of the case for coming week. The bench asked the lawyers to ensure their presence before the bench in coming days for arguments.

ATIR Accountant Member Dr Ghulam Mujtaba Bhatti was hearing the matter. This case was remanded back to the tribunal by the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

M/s Fauji Fertilizer Company Limited had contested show cause notices issued by the field offices of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

M/s Fauji Fertilizer Company Limited had challenged recovery of issued to it in head of outstanding income tax by the LTU, Islamabad.

M/s Fauji Fertilizer Company Limited had submitted the department had issued the demand for the tax year 2014 in head of income tax under provisions of Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.
