Customs Appellate Tribunal chairman hears important cases on Wednesday

ISLAMABAD: Customs Appellate Tribunal Chairman, Justice (r) Manzoor Hussain on Wednesday completed seven days long visit to the tribunal’s headquarters in the federal capital.

He had resumed the hearing of cases at the tribunal last Tuesday. During his visit, he headed single and division benches at the tribunal and heard a plenty of cases involving Directorate General of Intelligence and Investigation, and Collectorate of Customs, Islamabad.

These cases included some complaints filed by Collectorate of Customs, Islamabad, United Trading Company, M/s Janjua Life Trust, M/s Smart Zone and M/s Venus Pakistan (Private) Limited.

He also heard cases of M/s Wahid Hamid, M/s Premier Formica Industries, M/s Ghani Glass Limited M Ishaq, M/s Fazal Razaq and M/s Fazalur Rehman. The chairman had extended his stay at tribunal’s headquarters in Islamabad till Wednesday (today).

In light of reasonable number of cases and ahead month of Ramadan, chairman had decided to hold hearing of cases being listed at the tribunal.

It is pertinent to mention that while chairing the hearings, the chairman time and again remarked that verdict on cases would not be delayed and lawyers involved must pay heed to tribunal’s directives for bringing immediate relief to appellants.

Couple of days ago, DB headed by chairman dated in office hearing on Ayyan Ali’ money laundering case. Advocate Latif Khosa had submitted the case for Ayyan. She had prayed not guilty in case of money laundering.
