ISLAMABAD: Customs Appellate Tribunal (CAT) disposed of six cases during the proceedings held on November 4 and 5.
A division bench of teh CAT, comprising of Chairman Ghulam Murtaza Bhatti and Member Technical, Khalid Mehmood, heard the cases and disposed of.
The disposed cases involved two complaints about vehicles seized by customs collector for fake registration after tempering chassis numbers. These petitions were filed by Muhammad Hussain and Raja M Ejaz in which they challenged vehicles seizure by customs authorities.
The rest of four cases were filed by appellants, Fazl-e-Akbar, Azad Khan and others, Khaista Khan and Mushtaq Khan. These appellants had challenged Directorate-General Intelligence and Investigation Islamabad’s decisions on imposing different penalties for smuggling goods. Directorate-General viewed that they were penalized on account of non-payment of duties.
