ISLAMABAD: Model Ayyan Ali has challenged the verdict of the customs adjudication, in which a penalty of Rs 50 million was imposed on her, in the Customs Appellate Tribunal.
Sources informed Customs Today that the Customs Appellate Tribunal has barred tax authorities from receiving the money until the final decision of her appeal. The Customs Appellate Tribunal has also issued a notice to the customs authorities in this regard.
Sources said that regular proceedings of the case will be held during the next week. In his petition, Counsel for Ayyan Ali Sardar Latif Khosa said that the verdict of customs adjudication is one sided because she never appeared in the adjudication in her defence. Sardar Latif Khosa said that the Customs Appellate Tribunal should declare the adjudication verdict as null and void.
