LAHORE: The Customs Appellate Tribunal has ordered the release of goods to lawful owner conditionally on an appeal filed by M/s Barkat Steel Mills and others against the Collector of Customs Model Customs Collectorate of Multan and others.
Muhammad Shabbir Gujjar, member judicial, bench-II, heard the case in details and examined the record to passed the judgment with remarks that learned counsel of respondent had fully oppose the stance of appellant, and that the standpoint of appellants counsel is plausible.

Also mentioned in the judgment is that considering the provisions of section 27-A of the Customs Act 1969 and the request of the party to pay expenses of de-shaping of the seized goods. Tribunal also ordered to release goods to lawful owner on condition that the goods shall be converted into the scrap as per requirement of policy order. The expenses shall be borrowed by the appellant.
The same case was reported by the Superintendent Anti-Smuggling Organization, Multan, on the information was confiscated a consignment of foreign origin smuggled auto parts which was transported from Lahore to Quetta.

After show cause notice, customs adjudication and passed order in original against the importer who aggrieved with order and filed appeal before the Customs Appellate Tribunal on the grounds that goods confiscated illegally and impugned order beyond the law and facts. After hearing arguments Customs Appellate Tribunal decided the case.
