Customs Appellate Tribunal postpones hearing of three references till next week

ISLAMABAD: A single bench of the Customs Appellate Tribunal on Thursday adjourned the hearing of three customs references till next week.

The references were filed against Model Collectorate of Customs and Directorate General of Intelligence and Investigation, Islamabad. A single bench of the tribunal comprising member, Syed Muhammad Anwar, heard the cases for the second time and adjourned the hearing due to the absence of responding counsels. M/s Lucky Enterprises, Haq Nawaz and Wasif Hussain had filed these cases during 2016.

M/s Lucky Enterprises had challenged customs duty assessment sustained by the adjudication. Haq Nawaz and Wasif Hussain had filed cases for the release of vehicles which were seized by the customs authorities during various actions.

The department has not yet filed any objection against the cases. Following the absence of counsels, the bench adjourned hearing for the next week.
