ISLAMABAD: Customs Appellate Tribunal’s Member Technical Muhammad Nasir Khan has adjourned the hearing of a case carrying alleged mis-evaluation of imported goods.
Customs Appellate Tribunal bench-II heard the case and adjourned it till September 20. The hearing was adjourned following request by counsels involved who sought time for preparing the arguments.
M/s Yarkan had filed the case against Model Colelctorate of Customs, Islamabad. The appellant had challenged a decision announced by departmental adjudication in which it had maintained to seize imported fabric items by M/s Yarkan.
The adjudication had found the imported of guilty of misevaluation of imported goods. The decision stated that the items were cleared for value $3.75/kg, however the inquiry found its actual value as of $5/kg. Thereby, a difference of Rs 2.811 million had occurred in evaluation of cost-duty ratio.
With the said findings, the adjudication maintained to seize the imported fabric items. The appellant had challenged the decision before the tribunal and a single bench of the tribunal adjourned hearing of the cases till September third week.
