Customs Appellate Tribunal to resume hearing of cases from today

ISLAMABAD: The Customs Appellate Tribunal, which is going to hold regular hearing at Islamabad office from Monday (today), heard only one case during first week of January, 2017.

This case was filed by M/s Warid Telecom Private Limited through which it had challenged an announcement made by the Model Collectorate of Customs, Islamabad. Syed Muhammad Anwar and Muhammad Nasir Khan heard the matter and adjourned the same for next week. M/s Warid Telecom Private Limited had filed the case against Model Coollectorate of Customs, Islamabad. The company had filed the case in 2016.

Through the petition, the company had challenged a decision announced by the adjudication for sustaining claims of recoverable customs duty of around Rs 40 million.

The tribunal had held the hearing last week and told the counsels to ensure their presence on the next hearing. The tribunal had issued the directives through assisting counsels who had appeared instead of the main counsels.
