Customs Appellate Tribunal to resume hearing of customs matters today

ISLAMABAD: The Customs Appellate Tribunal will resume the hearing of a couple of customs matters on Wednesday (today) involving field offices of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

M/s Kohinoor Traders, M/s Five Star Trading and M/s Warid Telecom Private Limited had filed the references to be heard by members tribunal, Syed Muhammad Anwar and Muhammad Nasir Khan.

M/s Warid Telecom Private Limited has challenged an announcement made by the Model Collectorate of Customs, Islamabad while M/s Kohinoor Traders, M/s Five Star Trading had filed cases against Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation, Islamabad.

M/s Warid Telecom Private Limited had filed the case against Model Collectorate of Customs, Islamabad in 2016.

Through the petition, the company had challenged a decision announced by department’s adjudication for sustaining claims of recoverable customs duty of around Rs 40 millioln.

The tribunal had held the hearing of the matter in recent week and had adjourned for further arguments. The bench had asked the counsels involved to ensure their presence before the bench on the next date of hearing. During previous hearings the bench had directed the respondent’s counsels to submit detailed record on the case before the bench.
