On that day, Shyamol and his men tried to snatch 15 cartons containing valuables worth Tk 50 crore without submitting any valid documents at the courier unit of the cargo house, Rab said.

When Customs officials locked the gate of the cargo godown they snatched the key and took away 12 cartons opening the gate, said Rab official Tuhin.

They also physically assaulted some officials present there and gave life threat to them, he added.

The following day, Assistant Customs Officer Shahjahan Ali, one of the victims, filed a case against eight persons including Shyamol and Prince.

The official said Shyamol was involved in courier service business at the cargo village and there are allegations against him that he was involved in snatching goods from the cargo village in the past.
