BEIJING: US customs arrested a Chinese national on charge of smuggling cash out of United States.
Customs concealed more than $10,000 in cash, while a forfeiture notice was included in the indictment, covering a total of $26,294.
Assistant US, Attorney Russel G. Lorfing, signed two-page indictment that was returned by a grand jury.
Federal agents arrested Ma after US Customs and Border Protection agents discovered two separate envelopes each containing $10,000 from the luggage of Ma, who also declared other cash which was all seized.
Ma said his boss, the owner of LN Market, gave him the money and asked him to give it to a person in China as a payment on the store owner’s loan.
