Collector Asif Jah will be awarded Sitara-e- Imtiaz on Aug 13

LAHORE: Civil award, Sitara-e- Imtiaz, will be conferred on Dr Asif Mehmood Jah of the Customs Group on August 13, 2015 for the acknowledgement of his outstanding humanitarian services.

Dr Jah, presently posted as Collector Customs (Appeals), Lahore,  joined the Civil Service, (Customs and Excise Group) in 1992. Ever since joining the service, he has performed exceptionally well and contributed substantially in increase of government revenues.  He has been instrumental in detection of mega tax evasion scandals in which million of rupees were deposited in national exchequer.  He has been given meritorious reward by the Federal Board of Revenue on several occasions.

Besides being a competent government officer, Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah has been rendering valuable services for the ailing humanity of Pakistan with selfless devotion for the last 25 years.  He has been daily taking out time after the office hours to provide the medical treatment to the poor and needy patients. Thousands of patients have been treated at his Charity Hospital in Lahore.

Jah has always taken the lead to reach the calamity hit areas of Pakistan in order to help the humanity in distress.  Presently he is engaged in rehabilitation of drought stricken population of Thar, flood affectees of Punjab and IDPs of North Waziristan in Bannu.  He and his team has already provided relief goods worth millions of rupees and has so far been able to  dig 80 wells of fresh and sweet water for the people of Thar.

He has also established three health clinics for the IDPs of North Waziristan in Bannu and provided relief goods to the IDPs.  He took active part in rescue, relief and subsequent rehabilitation operations for the earthquake and flood affectees, IDPs of Swat, Attaabad lake, North Waziristan in Khyber Pukhtoon Khawa, Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan. He has so for built 750 houses, 35 mosques for the flood and earthquake affected people in Punjab, Khayber Pukhtoon Khawa, Sindh and Awaran, Balochistan where thousands of affectees are living happily with their families.

Jah is also a well known writer and has contributed thousands of articles on medical subjects and disaster management in order to create awareness among the general public.  Allah Kaaba Aur Banda is his travelogue on Hajj which has been written in front of Holy Ka’aba, Roza Rasool (PBUH) and other Holy places in Makkah and Madina.  He has authored 20 books which are well read and have been recognized and appreciated at national and international levels. One of his books, Dawa, Ghiza or Shifa has been published by the National Book Foundation.

Jah performed Hajj in year 2012 and during the performance of  Hajj he provided medical help to hundreds of Hajis from Pakistan, India and other countries of the world.
