KARACHI: Pakistan Customs has asked National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) Custom House Branch to accept only those pay orders for WeBOC payments, which carry name and NTN of importers.

Model Customs Collectorate of Customs of Appraisement (East) clarified the NBP that pay orders may be accepted for payment into WeBOC payments which mention Ref: importer name along with NTN number of the importer.

However, only those pay orders are to be accepted which are presented as differential amount arising out of upward assessment of imported goods etc; the pay orders of principal or main amounts are to be drawn from importer’s own accounts.

Similarly, the payment order(s) for excise and taxation received through WeBOC must also mention either On A/C importer name or Ref: importer name along with NTN number of the importer.

The collectorate said that this arrangement is being made for trade facilitation. “However, in case the bank observe anything adverse/anomalous or any kind of misuse of this arrangement, which is not being anticipated at the moment, it may immediately be brought in collectorate’s notice for review of this decision,” it added.
