In the meeting, the Pakistan Customs urged the officers concerned of KPT and shipping lines to make effective arrangements for the officials of Pakistan Customs to timely examine the samples after the ships are reached at the anchorage.

The sources in FBR informed Customs Today that sometimes, the sea is getting rough at the water front and it is difficult for the Customs officials to examine the samples by entering into the ships at that time.

Sources further informed this scribe that for one day’s delay due to roughness of the sea, the foreign shipping lines charge Rs 2.5 million as detention charges because of non-examination of the samples.

In the meeting, the Pakistan Customs authorities stressed upon the shipping lines and KPT authorities to take effective measures in order to conduct timely examination.
