Customs ASO busts smuggled goods worth Rs 4.3 million

KARACHI: Customs Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized a huge quantity of hashish along with other contraband items worth millions of rupees.

According to the details, the team of Customs Preventive ASO raided near Mochko at a passenger bus and recovered a huge quantity of hashish along with other contraband items worth millions of rupees.

Deputy Collector Ali Raza Turrabi informed that on the tip-off, the higher authorities deployed an ASO team under his supervision to bust the smuggled contraband items being carried through a passenger bus.

The source informed that the ASO Preventive team beefed up surveillance and started checking every passenger bus near Mochko. A passenger bus was intercepted by the team but the driver rushed for an escape.

The team under the supervision of the Deputy Collector Ali Raza Turrabi chased the passenger bus and stopped the driver after a long run. The ASO officer along with other team member started a searching the bus, the source added.

During the search of the thirty kilograms of hashish and other contraband items were also recovered. The contraband items including Indian Guttka, different brands of smuggled Cigarettes Pine, Malbaro, Benson & Hedges and Dunhill were also recovered.

The recovered hashish and other smuggled contraband worth Rs4.3 million of rupees was to be sold in the different places of the city. The case has been lodged against the offender and further investigation has been started.
