Customs ASO foils attempt to smuggle 109 kg hashish from Peshawar to Karachi

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has foiled a bid to smuggle 109 kilograms of contraband hashish worth millions of rupees.

Sources said that information was passed through Collector Enforcement Feroz Alam Jonejo to Additional Collector Honak Balloch, that huge quantity of charas would be smuggled in a Toyota Corolla car from Peshawar and would enter Karachi through Moroo, Rani pur, Saeedabad and Hyderabad.

Deputy Collector ASO Inam Ullah Wazir formed a team to foil the attempt and vigilance was mounted. Subsequently, the said car was identified at Customs Choke Point, Super Highway, Karachi and Customs team chased the car and successfully intercepted it.

However, the driver of the said vehicle managed to escape. The car was thoroughly searched and recovered 109 Kgs of fine quality Charas, concealed in different cavities of the car.

FIR has been lodged and further proceedings are still underway till filing of this report.
