Customs ASO foils bid to smuggle foreign origin fabric worth Rs10.5m to Karachi

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) foiled an attempt to smuggle huge quantity of non-customs paid fabric from Lahore to Karachi.

Sources told Customs Today that Additional Collector Tayyaba Kiyani received credible information about smuggling of foreign origin fabric. She immediately constituted a team comprising Inspector Sajjad Bukhari, Inspector Abdul Rehman Butt and Abul Hasan.

The ASO team held a picket at bund Road, near Niazi Chowk. At about 2.00 am the intercepted trailer  bearing registration no: TLF. 281 loaded with 1x 40′ container. The ASO team bring the container at State Warehouse House, Thokar Niaz Baig and successfully recovered 12000 kilograms foreign origin polyester knitted fabric valuing to Rs10.5 million. Further investigations are still underway.
