Customs ASO impounds huge quantity of artificial ornaments, stone sheets

LAHORE: Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Lahore has seized millions of rupees glass and stone sheets ornaments and string strips.

Sources told Customs Today that ASO team on the information of deputy collector raided a godown near Railways Station and detained 76 cartons of fancy quality multi styles ornaments.

The contraband items were in the shape of strings strips, glass and stone sheets etc and shoe ornaments. It was said that the total weight was measured 2608 kilograms.

It was informed that the illegally imported ornaments were arrived from Karachi at Railway Station Lahore.  The Customs teams on information conducted a joint operation.

The teams were consisting of mobile squads comprising Mansoor Elahi, Rana Gulzar Hussain Bhatti, Tariq Baig inspectors and sepoys.  It was also said that customs authorities after registering a case have initiated further investigations.  The value of the ornaments was estimated at Rs 1,000,000.
