Customs ASO impounds illegal mobiles, accessories worth Rs5m from Shah Alam Market

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Anti-Smuggling Orgaization (ASO) seized Rs 5 million illegally imported mobile accessories, cigarettes and other goods at the Shah Alam Market.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Rauf Ahmad received credible information about smuggling of non-duty goods through a vehicle. He immediately constituted an anti-smuggling squad under the supervision of Superintendent Nasir Tarar. The ASO team intercepted a pickup and recovered Rs 5 million mobile phone and accessories and other contraband items.

The source said that the illegal consignment was attempted to be supplied by a smuggler Baqi Khan in Shah Alam Market. The anti-smuggling squad comprising Superintendent Nasir Tarar and inspectors conducted the operation.

A case has been registered and further investigations are underway.
