Customs ASO impounds over Rs810m illegal vehicles & goods

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has impounded over Rs 810 million illegally imported items and vehicles during the month of September.

As per details, under the leadership of Collectorate of Customs Enforcement and Compliance Collector Basit Maqsood Abbasi Anti-Smuggling Organization impounded non-customs paid goods and articles worth Rs810 million.

The ASO team that impounded these goods included Additional Collector Mateen Alam, Assistant Collector Ali Toqeer and inspectors Rao Mansoor Elahi, Abdul Hameed Bhatti, Asghar Purywal and other. There performance is being appreciated by the top officials of the Customs Department.

On the other hand, the seizures of over Rs 810 million’s contraband and non-customs paid items are being regarded as exemplary that superseded all the past years and months.

The ASO has successfully foiled a number of smuggling bids especially betel nuts, illegally imported cars, Iranian diesel, cigarettes, tyres, food items, forign orginated cloth, drugs zafrani pati, Indian gutka and other such items.

On the other hand, it has been said that the ASO team has lodged numerous FIRs and arrested accused persons.
