Customs ASO impounds non-customs paid vehicles, items worth Rs 10m

LAHORE: Customs Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organization has impounded non-customs paid vehicles and items, including dry milk and welding rods worth million of rupees during second week of November.

Sources told Customs Today that the ASO seized these goods and vehicles from different places of the city. The goods which were impounded included non-customs herbal medicines, welding rods, curtain cloths coasters, Mercedes Turbo cars and dry milk.

Sources said that the ASO team confiscated dry milk from a Mazda truck worth millions of rupees near Sagian Pull.  The milk was originated from India and was being transported from Lahore to some other parts of the country.

Similarly the ASO team seized six ton welding rods from a truck near Sabzi Mandi, it was said. During other operations, the ASO team seized one coaster from Badami Bagh and one Mercedes car from Shera Kot.  The Customs authorities said that the Mercedes was being operated on fake number plate and was held.

They added that Mercedes was impounded as the driver of the vehicle failed to produces any documents regarding possession and custody of the vehicle.  In yet another operation the ASO team seized Iranian kaw zban Khamira from a godown of a trader Muhammad Aslam.  The Customs officials said that the impounded goods and vehicles are valued at Rs 10 million.

The Customs ASO team that conducted the operations included Deputy Collector Asim Awan, Superintendent Waqar Ahmad Cheema, Deputy Superintendent Ejaz Rasool, Inspctors Irfan Mumtaz, Ishfaq Baig and Aslam Iqbal.
