Lahore: ASO impounds wood, blankets, tiles, accessories worth Rs 40 million

ASO officials roll up sleeves to conduct as much seizures as it can by the end of FY: sources

LAHORE: The MCC Lahore Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has impounded Rs 40 million smuggled goods from a godown at Bhai Pehro, sources told Customs Today.

The sources said that the ASO, on the information and instructions of Collector of Customs Mukarram Jah Ansari, raided a godown at Bhai Pehro and confiscated crockery, wood, Iranian tiles, blankets, mobile and computer accessories worth millions of rupees.

The sources said that the mega seizure was done following a major seizure at the Punjab Industrial Estate.

However, the authorities have kept the raid secret and has given the accused party a time period for producing clearance documents against the seized goods, the sources said.

Sources also told this scribe that as fiscal year 2014-15 is going to end and the Collectors has instructed the ASO team to come hard on the smugglers and add to revenue of the organization.

The ASO acting upon the instructions of the Collector the officials under surveillance of Superintendent Mumtaz Ajmal Mian, have rolled up its sleeves to make as much seizures as it can by the end of the financial year, the sources informed further.
