Customs ASO impounds smuggled goods worth Rs40m from Yusuf Plaza

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Preventive, Anti-smuggling Organization (ASO) recovered huge quantity of smuggled during raid from Yusuf Plaza located in Bolton Market. The market value of recovered goods is about Rs40 million.

Sources told that  on the directives of Chief Collector Enforcement Saifuddin Junejo directed to enhance anti-smuggling campaign, raids are constantly being conducted at the warehouses and markets housing smuggled goods.

Sources told that credible information was received by Collector Preventive Saqif Saeed about presence of smuggled goods at Yusuf Plaza in Bolton market. Customs anti-smuggling squad under the supervision of Superintendent Iftikhar Hasan was formed to raid the market. Subsequently, large quantity of foreign origin cigarettes, cigars, Indian gutka and cosmetics were recovered. Further investigations are underway.

It is pertinent to mention here that after assuming the charge as Chief Collector Saifuddin Jenejo directed all anti-smuggling squads to adopt zero tolerance policy against smuggling. He directed that all available resources should be availed to curb smuggling attempts in the region.
