Customs ASO impounds smuggled tyres worth Rs10m from Okara

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Preventive Anti Smuggling (ASO) has impounded Rs 10 million 199 tyres of buses and trucks from a godown in Okara, official sources told Customs Today.

Sources told that on the information of Collector Preventive Ahmad Rauf, Superintendent Malik Javaid Iqbal constituted a team consisting inspectors and spoyes.

The team raided and successfully seized the godown of illegally dumped godwn with tyres of larger size.

The godown is reported to be the ownership of Sheikh Qadeer Mohallah Sakhian.

The ASO team after registering a case has started further investigations into the case.

Earlier, the ASO has made mega cases of Rs 10 million 1350 tyres from Ghazi Ada, Doaba Road.

Similarly, the ASO seized Rs 10 million skimmed and dry milk from the trucks of known smugglers Nabi Bakhas, it was reported by the Customs authorities.

In the same way the ASO on the information of Collector Rauf Ahmad under the supervision of superintendent impounded illegally transported Rs2.5 m betel nuts from Lahore.

Official sources said that on the directions of collector of customs, the superintendent has adopted zero tolerance policy against every kind of Smuggling. In the wake of the time ASO conducted many successful raids and more are in the pipeline.
