Customs ASO recovers Rs90m non-duty paid dry milk from Muridkay

The official sources Sunday told Customs Today that on information the customs ASO observed unusual movements for about one month and  after being fully satisfied they raided the godown and recovered 9000 bags of non-customs paid dry milk. It was added that each bag was containing 25 kgs of the dry milk while the case is said to be the historical one. The sources said that the milk was being supplied to the Ice cream companies and dairies.

“The milk was being illegally imported from Iran, the US, Poland, Turkey, NATO and other countries on thrown away prices and supplied to the local market and even to the other cities like Okara, Kasur, Gujranwala,” the sources said.

The sources said that the customs authorities raided the godown on information and directions of the collector of customs Zulfiqar Younas and initially the 50 trucks of illegal dry milk were shifted to the state warehouse while more quantity was being transported to the where-house.

He said that ASO team has been instructed to adopt zero tolerance and spare no one in bringing the wrongdoers to the book.

The sources said that the operation was conducted by superintendent, Mumtaz Ajmal Mian led by Additional Collector Nayyer Shafiq while Assistant Collector Asim Awan and Inspector Khalid Butt and others were also part of the team.
