Customs ASO seizes huge quantity of non-duty paid goods during 1H

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Preventive, Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) registered many cases of betel nuts, mobile phones, cigarettes, tyres and vehicles during the period of first July 2018 to 24th December 2018.

According to the details, during different raids, customs team seized 45257 kilograms of betel nuts, 22011 kilograms of foreign origin cloths, 2800 tyres, 19355 mobile phones, 3746 digital receivers, 4637 cigarettes dandas, 35 non duty paid tampered vehicles and miscellaneous goods worth Rs79.1 million.

Anti-smuggling squad raided on cold storage godown in July-2018 and recovered goods worth Rs 300 million. The squad raided on a godown of welding electrodes in September and seized goods worth Rs7.5 million.

Three seizure cases of fresh tomatoes were registered in September 2018 worth Rs7.5 million. The ASO team seized a trailer of non-duty paid goods in October- 2018 worth Rs10.0 million.

The ASO team raided on a godown of foreign origin cigarettes and tobacco and recovered items worth Rs70 million. The same team raided on a godown of digital satellite receivers in November-2018 and seized goods worth Rs17.5 million.
