Customs ASO seizes huge quantity of non-duty paid mobile phones from Thokar Niaz Baig

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Preventive anti-smuggling team seized a huge quantity of non-duty paid mobile phones from Thokar Niaz Baig.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Customs Preventive Faiz Ahmad received information that a big quantity of non-duty paid mobile phones were being smuggled and would be dumped in local market. He immediately constituted a team under the supervision of Superintendent Nasir Minhas, Deputy Superintendent Agha Qadeer, Inspector Mansoor Elahi and others. The team established a check post near Thokar Niaz Baig and started checking of vehicles. The team intercepted a trailer bearing registration no: LZB-6061.

During the search of the vehicle, the team recovered 10 cartons of foreign origin mobile phones of assorted brands. The team asked the driver, who was identified as Irfan and was a resident of Raiwind, to produce legal documents regarding possession and transportation of these mobile phones but he remained failed to provide any relevant documents.

The Customs anti-smuggling team seized the mobiles and registered a case of smuggling against the owner of the mobile phones according to customs laws.

It is necessary to mention here that after assuming the charge Collector Customs Preventive Faiz Ahmad directed anti smuggling squads to adopt zero tolerance policy towards smuggling. He ordered that anyone who found involved in selling and buying non duty paid goods will be dealt with iron hands.
