Customs ASO seizes huge quantity of smuggled goods in last week of January

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) conducted various operations against smugglers on the special instructions by Assistant Collector Shah Samad Hamdani and recovered smuggled goods worth Rs 5797 million during last week of January.

Sources told Customs Today, that Superintendent Sardar Muhammad Choudhary constituted a team to curb smuggling. The ASO team consisted Azhar Hussain Jafri, Faizi Raza, Muhammad Munir, Umar Bhatti, Inspectors and Muhammad Ashraf, Liaquat Ali, Israr Ahmad and Muhammad Abdullah (sepoys). The ASO team seized non duty paid crockery 16459 kgs, worth Rs20,22,633 with carrier vehicle Rs 3,200,000, liqour 10 bottles Rs75000, and Mitsubishi Pajero bearing registration no: KSA 6600 model 1988 worth Rs 500,000 were brought into the country without payment of custom duty and taxes.

Sources told that Faisalabad ASO seized items and vehicle a under section of Import and Export Control Act 1950 punishable under Section 156(1)89(i) 90 of the Customs Act 1969 and forward the cases to Customs Adjudication Faisalabad for legal action.
