Customs ASO seizes non-duty paid cigarettes, Rani juice worth Rs 4m from Badami Bagh

LAHORE: The Anti-Smuggling Origanization (ASO) of the Customs Preventive has impounded 576 cartons of Iranian juices from Badami Bagh area.

Sources told Customs Today that the ASO raided a godown that was covered with the Iranian made Rani juice. It was said that the raid was conducted in congested area of Badami Bagh and seized the juices worth Rs 2 million. It was informed that the juices were being transported illegally in the Lahore market from Karachi.  Meanwhile, during another operation, the ASO raided a godown and seized American cigarettes worth million of rupees.

Customs authorities said that the cigarettes and the juices were illegally brought into the country by a trader Zahid.  The market value of seized cigarettes is Rs 2 million.

The Customs ASO team led by Assistant Collector Asim Awan under the supervision of Superintendent Waqar Cheema conducted the operation while others including Ishfaq and Intelligence Officer Ejaz Butt were also part of the team.

The sources said that the Customs authorities after registering separate cases against the accused parties have initiated further investigations in to the cases. The sources said that the ASO team has saved million of rupees by conducted the operations against the illegal elements.
