Customs ASO seizes non duty paid generator

FAISALABAD: The Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) Faisalabad of the Customs Department has seized a 400-KVA foreign origin generator. The market value of the seized generator is Rs6,000,000 involving duty taxes Rs, 22,00,000 and also impounded vehicle.

Sources told Customs Today, that Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan received secret information that a generator is being transported from Karachi to Faisalabad through Mazda truck bearing registration no: JX-6031 without payment of duty and taxes.

He immediately formed ASO team comprising Superintendent Tanveer Raza Naqvi), Inspectors Faizi Raza, Waqas Ali and Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Naeem, Liaqat ali, Zulifqar Ali (sepoys).

The ASO team intercepted the truck and near Jhang Road and asked driver who was identified as Umar Aziz to produce legal documents regarding possession of generator but he failed to provide any relevant documents. ASO team seized the generator, Vehicle and forwarded the case to customs adjudication for further proceedings.
