Customs authorities conducting raids to arrest TCS/Smartzone directors

ISLAMABAD: Directorate Customs Intelligence and Investigations Rawalpindi is conducting raids to arrest two Smartzone directors Lutfullah and Asghar Khan. Both the directors have disappeared to avoid arrest.

Sources told Customs Today that Customs Intelligence is also approaching Customs Appellate Tribunal to quash stay order of Rs 100 million which the TCS and Smartzone obtained from the court.

Sources further revealed that the Customs Intelligence is approaching the tribunal to get approval to auction seized consignments of TCS and Smartzone because the Customs authorities feared that officials of TCS and Smartzone will try to linger on the case.

Now Customs authorities already finalized a fact sheet which will be submitted in the Court during next hearing of the case. It is pertinent to mention here that Collector Customs Adjudication impose penalties and taxes three times extra on seized consignments of TCS and Smartzone and also on their chief executive Shakirullah and Saqib Hamdani.
