ISLAMABAD: Peshawar Customs Dry Port collected Rs 1,011.37 million in wake of duty and taxes during July and August of the financial year 2016-17 and surpassed the revenue collection of Rs 841 million made during same period of the fiscal year 2015-16.
Peshawar Customs Additional Collector Fazal-e-Samad told Customs Today that the dry port showed impressive performance during the first two month. He added that the collectorate generated Rs 33.01 million as miscellaneous taxes in financial year 2016-17. It collected only Rs 5.07 million during the same period of the last year.
The dry port collected regulatory duty (RD) to the tune of Rs 46.35 million in new fiscal year so far, while it stood at Rs 19.52 million last year, he said.
He added that it collected Rs 390.75 million under the head of customs duty against Rs 291.53 million generated during first two months of last fiscal year. In the wake of sales tax, the customs collected Rs 383.55 million as compare to Rs 343.2 million of last year, he informed.
It also collected advance income tax amounting to Rs 171.57 million during July-August of fiscal year 2016-17 against Rs 144.96 million of previous year, Fazal e Samad said, adding that the dry port collected Rs 5.06 million under the head of federal excise duty this year while it generated Rs 5.13 million during same period of FY 2015-16.
