Customs bags Rs 2840m during Q1

ISLAMABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate collected Rs 2840 million in wake of duty/taxes against assigned target of Rs 2769 million during first quarter of fiscal year 2016-17.

Islamabad Customs Collector Arslan Subuctageen told Customs Today that the officials made best efforts to meet the set target for July-September and not only achieved the target but also surpassed it.

Arslan informed that the department collected Rs 1120 million under the head of customs duty against the assigned target of Rs 1119 million, adding that the collection of customs duty stood at Rs 628.91 million during same corresponding period of last year 2015-16.

It generated Rs 1130 million in the wake of sales tax against the target of Rs 1017 million, he said, adding that it also collected withholding (WHT) tax amounting to Rs 594 against the target of Rs 633 million. Under the head of WHT, the collectorate observed a shortfall of Rs 39 million.
