Customs Central Region collects Rs 77 billion during July-Feb

LAHORE: The Pakistan Customs’ Central Region has collected Rs 77 billion as customs duty (CD) during eight months of the current financial year 2014-15, which is six percent more than the corresponding period of last fiscal year.

The region had collected Rs 73.25 billion during same corresponding period of FY 2013-14.

According to details, the Lahore Appraisement collected Rs 34.82 billion during the period under review, which is 4 percent more than the same corresponding period of last fiscal year 2013-14.

Lahore Preventive collected 38 percent more revenue – Rs 20.70 billion – during the eight months of the current fiscal year, while it had collected Rs 14.97 billion during the same period of the last financial year.

Similarly, Multan Customs collected Rs 21.31 billion during the eight months of FY 2014-15 against the collection of Rs 23.74 billion during the same period of last financial year.

Faisalabad Customs collected Rs 4.05 billion during the FY 2014-15 against Rs 4.23 billion 2013-14.

In order to enhance customs duty and achieve the financial year’s target, the customs chief collector held a number of meetings with the collectors of the four collectorates that come in the region.

Sources said that Customs Chief Collector Rozi Khan Burki has asked the collectors to speed up duty collection and cover the deficits on a monthly basis to make it a big total.

On the other hand, the collectors have assured their chief of doing their utmost not only to achieve the customs duty target but also to exceed it.
