Customs Central Region collects Rs8823m WHT in seven months of FY2016-17

LAHORE: Customs Central Region has collected Rs8823million on account of withholding tax (WHT) during the first seven months (July to January) of current financial year 2016-17.

The withholding tax collected by all the four collectorates of customs including collectorate of Customs Preventive, Collectorate of Customs Appraisement, Collectorate of Customs Multan and Collectorate of Customs Faisalabad.

As per details, Collectorate of Customs Appraisement collected Rs7565 million on account of withholding tax during the period under review while the Collectorate of Customs Preventive collected Rs4684 million during the first seven months of current financial year 2016-17.

Similarly, Collectorate of Customs Multan collected Rs222 million during the first seven months of the current financial year.

On the other hand, the Collectorate of Faisalabad collected Rs 150 million on account of withholding tax (WHT) during the first seven months financial year 201-17.

Overall the Customs Central Region collected Rs8823million WHT revenue during the first seven months of financial year 2016-17.

The WHT collected from import and export by all the four collectorate that come under the limits of Central Region.

Sources told Customs Today that Chief Collector of Customs Central Region in order to meet financial year targets has urged all the collectorates to speed up collection measures. It also reported that she has drawn an extensive plan on collecting revenue to meet targets of financial year.
