LAHORE: The Customs Central Region has exceeded duty and taxes collection target by 7 percent by collecting Rs 156.527 billion during the financial year 2015-16 against the assigned target of Rs 146.219 billion.
According to details, the four collectorates of Central Region including Customs Preventive, Customs Appraisement Lahore , Faisalabad and Multan collectively made it possible and exceeded the collection target.
Customs Appraisement collected Rs 68557 million registering a growth of 12 percent against proposed target of collection of duty and taxes Rs60967 million.
On the other hand, the collectorate of Customs Preventive collected Rs29908 million against Rs 60967 million.
Similarly, collectorate of Multan has collected Rs48685 million duty and taxes during the period under review registering growth of 7 percent against Rs45439 million.
Likewise, Faisalabad collectorate showing a magnificent growth of 23 percent colleting total duty and taxes worth Rs 9375 million against the proposed target of Rs7639 million during the period under review.
On the whole, all the four collectorate succeded not only to achieve the target of Rs146.219 billion but also surpass it 7 percent by collecting Rs 156.527 billion. The four collectorates are functioning under the supervision of Chief Collector Samaira Nazir Khan and achieved the target.
The collectorate of Customs Preventive is being run by Collector Zulfiqar Youns, collectorate of Appraisement is headed by Muhammad Sadiq while Collectorate of Multan and Faisalabad were being run by Collector of Customs Serfraz Waraich and Ch Zulfiqar respectively.
Sources told Customs Today that the Central Region was able to achieve target due to the positive efforts of Chief Collector Samaira Nazir Khan and the four other collectors.
The sources informed that the chief collector personally visited all the collectorates and motivated the senior and junior staff to achieve the target.
