Customs’ Collectorates committing violation of Rule 299 of DTRE application

KARACHI: Violation of Rule 299 of DTRE application is being committed as the Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Port Muhammad Bin Qasim-Exports and MCC Export are issuing DTRE certificate without approval of Input Output Co-efficient Organization (IOCO).

According to details, it was revealed by the sources of Pakistan Customs that all three field formation collectorates are issuing DTRE certificate without approval of Input Output Co-efficient Organization (IOCO), which is reportedly a sheer violation of Rule 299 of DTRE application.

Sources informed Customs Today that the approval from IOCO authorities concerned is mandatory in case of issuance DTRE certificate; however the authorities concerned of MCC-Port Muhammad Bin Qasim-Exports and MCC-Export are issuing DTRE certificate without consulting with the competent authorities, which may have a risk to damage the foreign exchange.

When contacted, the sources in IOCO confirmed that the authorities concerned of MCC-Port Muhammad Bin Qasim (Exports) and MCC-Export are issuing the DTRE certificate without the approval of IOCO, adding that the collectorates should send the verification of DTRE certificate to IOCO befor issuing DTRE certification to the exporters.

They further said that the Rule 299 of DTRE application stated that all collectorates should consult with the IOCO prior issuing of DTRE certificate to the exporters, while this practice is not being followed in recent days.
