LAHORE: Pakistan has imported items worth Rs 3.56 billion during January 2015 from India through Wagha border, while total tax collected upon these imports was Rs 483 million. As per detail, Pakistan imported tomatoes, garlic, polyethylene, ginger, cotton yarn, condensers, machinery etc from India during first month of 2015.
Pakistan imported 15685102 Kg tomatoes worth Rs 724 million, while Rs 43 million was generated by getting Income Tax on tomatoes import. On the other hand, garlic 215333 Kg worth Rs 22 million was imported and income tax on garlic remained Rs 1.3 million.
Documents show that Pakistan imported 144982 kg fruits (H.S Code 709-6000) from India worth Rs 9.6 million, while Rs 0.4 million as duty tax and income tax Rs 0.6 million was collected on it. Ginger worth Rs 126 million was imported; however duty tax of Rs 19 million and Income Tax Rs 8.7 million was collected.
Pakistan imported Peas worth Rs 267 million and Rs 13 million was collected as duty tax and Rs 16 million as income tax. Besides, vegetables like cucumbers, beans, carrots, radishes and other were imported worth Rs 25 million, while duty tax Rs 1.26 million and income tax Rs 1.5 million was collected.
Pakistan also imported soya bean worth Rs 1.577 billion during January, while duty tax Rs 78 million, sales tax Rs 82 million, additional sales tax Rs 8 million and income tax Rs 70 million were collected by Pakistan customs.
As per detail, Pakistan has imported polyethylene of Rs 112 million, while the Customs collected Rs 4 million as duty tax, Rs 14 million as sales tax and Rs 4.5 million as income tax. Similarly, polypropylene worth Rs 260 million was imported, while total tax Rs 67 million was collected on polypropylene import.
Besides that, Pakistan also imported cotton yarn worth Rs 98 million; cotton not combed Worth Rs 253 million and non-woven worth Rs 0.46 million from India via Wagha border. Condensers worth Rs 12 million and machinery worth Rs 45 million was also imported.
