Customs Court accepts charge sheet of contraband smuggling case

KARACHI: The Customs Court accepted charge sheet against suspects Aftar Hussain, Dilawar Shah, Kameen Bacha, Dila Ram Khan, Saleem Khan, Mobin Khan and Jalal ud din, who were involved in a case of attempting to smuggle non-duty paid High Speed Diesel (HSD).

On February 26, 2019, investigation officer submitted charge sheet and informed the court that on an actionable information, customs team intercepted wooden launch Al-Zainab Painted No BFD-15315 and recovered 9768 liters high speed Iranian diesel and asked suspects to provide lawful documents.

He further submitted that however, they did not produce any lawful documents therefore, customs team arrested all suspects and said wooden launch and other related documents worth Rs15,879,120.

After the hearing, court accepted interim charge sheet and directed investigation officer to complete investigation and submit final challan on next date of hearing.

According to the prosecution, case was registered for violation of Section 2(s) 156 (2) 157 (2) and 178 of Customs Act, 1969 punishable under Clause 8 & 89 of Section 156 (i) ibid read with Section 3 (1) of Imports & Export Control Act, 1950.
