Customs Court accepts interim challan in smuggling & selling of DTH equipment case

KARACHI: The Customs Court granted bail to suspect namely Waleed Ali Malik son of Mehmood Ali Malik, who was booked in a case of attempting to smuggle and selling of DTH equipment etc.

On December 13, 2018, investigation officer submitted interim challan before the court which was accepted.

During the hearing, counsel for accused filed bail petition and argued that applicant is innocent and falsely implicated in this case and prosecution has not evidence against him; therefore, the court may grant him bail. After hearing, the court granted him bail against the surety of Rs100,000 and directed him to appear on next date of hearing before the court.

According the interim challan submitted by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) that on a actionable information, a team of Customs Intelligence & Investigation, FIA, PEMRA conducted a raid at Station Road Shahdadpur and recovered illegal/smuggled items including DTH receivers, digital LNB, dish (small) which were taken into possession by FIA under a proper seizure memo and registered first information report (FIR) against him.
