Customs Court acquits suspect involved in antique statue smuggling case

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling acquitted an alleged smuggler who was facing the charges of smuggling of antique statues from Lahore to Bangkok.

According to the details, a case of statues smuggling was scheduled for hearing before the special court where Chaudhary Ameer Muhamamd Khan, judge after hearing the arguments, acquitted Iftikhar Ahmad.

Earlier, the Customs Court had also acquitted the officials of Pakistan Customs named Suhail Ahmad and Shahid of statue smuggling charges.

The Customs Court also ordered the Customs authorities to handover these statues to the management of the Lahore Fort for keeping them in museum.

On the other hand, the main accused of the case Ammar is released on pre-arrest bail. He was involved in smuggling of these statues from Peshawar to Lahore and then intended to smuggle them to Bangkok.
