Customs Court adjourned hearing of bail plea till December 4

MULTAN: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling adjourned hearing of bail plea filed by accused who was arrested in recovery of outstanding amount from Mushtaq Leather Industries Pvt. Limited.

According to details, Mushtaq Leather Industry Pvt. Ltd has imported raw material for the manufacturing of his goods and evaded tax of Rs40 million by paying less duty taxes during the clearance of their import consignments from Multan Dry Port. The Model Customs Collectorate has asked several times to said importer for payment of remaining duty taxes.

But said importer has not paid any remaining tax amount to Multan Customs Collectorate and Recovery branch has attached their bank accounts and immoveable properties to recover taxes. Multan Customs has detained one vehicle and were auctioning two commercial located near Clock Tower Ghanta Ghar Multan for recovery of their outstanding amount from defaulters after final notice but accused has taken stay order against them from Lahore High Court Multan bench against the decision of Multan Customs. Said importer refused to deposit outstanding amount to Multan Customs .

However, after failure in recovery of outstanding amount from Mushtaq Leather Pvt Ltd, Multan Customs recovery branch has also lodged FIR against accused Ishtiaq in the recovery of unpaid amount in 2012.

Accused bail in the case was rejected by Supreme Court of Pakistan on the request of Multan Customs and accused was arrested by Multan Customs .Then accused Ishitaq Ahmad filed the bail plea in the Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling Organization. After the hearing, the bail plea of accused Ishtiaq, Customs court adjourned till 4 December for further proceedings.+
