Customs court adjourns 12 pre-arrest bails pleas on Tuesday

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling adjourned 12 pre -arrest bail pleas on Tuesday.

According to details available with Customs Today, 19 cases were scheduled on Tuesday for hearing but all cases were rescheduled for new dates due to non-availability of permanent judge of the court.

Pre-arrest bail pleas of Abdul Khaliq, Ali Faruq, Omer Faruq, Muhammad Atique, Ihsan Elahi, Tahir Islam and his colleagues, Shakil Ahmad, Mubarak Ali, Muhammad Aslam, Muhammad Ismail and Yar Muhammad, who are involved in different cases of smuggling, tax evasion and mis-declaration, were adjourned. Bail pleas of two another two suspects were also adjourned.

Lawyers have appealed to the Lahore High Court to appoint a regular judge in the Customs Court for speedy trial of pending cases.
