Customs Court adjourns bail plea of alleged tax evader

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has adjourned the post-arrest bail plea of a suspect involved in a mega sales tax evasion case.

The accused is on judicial remand that was recently approved by the Customs Court for further investigations.

According to the details, accused Zunair Ahmad son of Zaka Waleed was arrested by the Inland Revenue (IR) Intelligence and Investigation following the charges of sales tax evasion.

Zunair owns a factory and manufactures household items. He is allegedly involved in concealing the actual sales of the factory in order to avoid taxes. Therefore, the officials arrested him and registered a case against him under Sales Tax Ordinance, 1990.

The officials presented him before the Customs Court, which sent the accused on physical remand for interrogation. Accused Zunair Ahmad is a resident of Rachna block Allama Iqbal Town, Lahore.
