Customs Court adjourns bail plea of cell phones’ smuggler

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has adjourned the post-arrest bail plea filed by an accused, Rizwan Ahmad, who was arrested while making an attempt to smuggle mobile phones.

According to the details, Rizwan Ahmad is on judicial remand for 14 days that was approved by the court of Chaudhary Ameer Muhammad Khan after completion of his physical remand.

Rizwan Ahmad was arrested by the customs authorities at Lahore airport upon his arrival from a Gulf state. The Customs staff deputed at airport recovered 141 mobile phones of assorted brands, including Samsung, Apple and Huawei, from his luggage.

The customs authorities registered a case against him under different sections of the Pakistan Customs Act, 1969.

Later, the accused was produced before the Customs Court that remanded him into custody of Customs Investigation and Prosecution for interrogation.
