Customs Court adjourns hearing of bail plea of suspect involved in tyres smuggling

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti Smuggling has adjourned post arrest bail plea of an accused who was arrested from Lahore with a truck loaded with non-duty paid tyres.

According to details, the suspect was arrested when customs intelligence team intercepted a truck which was coming from Quetta near Thokar Niaz Baig.

During searching process, the customs intelligence officials found a huge quantity of smuggled tyres which were very smartly hidden and packed. Most of the recovered tyres were of Pajeros, Mazada trucks and other vehicles. Different brands of tyres were also recovered from the truck.

Sources told market value of recovered tyres were almost of Rs5 million in local  market and that were being carried to Lahore for a businessman Matiur Rehman.

Customs team presented him before the court of Chaudary Ameer Muhammad Khan from where the judge handed over him to customs team for interrogation for four days physical remand and then he was sent to jail on judicial trial.
